I'm not even kidding this time!

March 27, 2014 2 Comments
This is it, I'm going to try again and this time I'm not going to fail.  I'm going to beat this weight and I'm going to be happy with me and who I am as a person.

Lately I've had a VERY sore back, so sore that I actually had to crawl into the house on all fours after being out in the garage working on a project out there.  I just couldn't stand and I certainly couldn't walk and I thought about it for a long time.  How much of this pain is because I'm "overweight".  If I lost even just a little weight would I have less back pain?  Probably not a lot because even when I was younger and thinner I had a horrible back.  Genes (thanks Mom!) and being hit by a vehicle when I was younger have just given me bad luck when it comes to aches and pains in my back.

But I really thought about it and thought, does it make sense for me to just sit back and deal with the pain or try and do something about it.

So here I go again, yet another attempt to get healthy!

This time I'm serious.  My BIG goal is to loose 90lbs, but I know that having such a big goal for me isn't going to work.  I need to start smaller and have smaller goals that I know are attainable.  I am also going to reward myself with fun things after each goal is reached.  If I don't reach the goal, I don't get the reward, simple as that.

So my goals and my rewards.

First 10lbs - A new pair of running shoes (I hope to loose 10lbs (ish) a month, that's about 2 lbs a week, but the timing isn't really my goal, it's just about losing it.)

Probably something like these:
10lbs -  A new bike helmet and bike bag

10lbs - A new yoga outfit

10lbs - something form Henri Bendel for me!

10lbs -

10lbs

10lbs

10lbs

10lbs - A jo malone purfume - Blackberry & Bay maybe?

10lbs - A cruise vacation for the family.  All of us!  I know this sounds like a crazy reward but I really feel that after working so hard on something for so long and committing to something so big that I'll totally deserve it!

Want to help me think of some new goals?  I'm going to update as I think of some new things but right now this is a start.  I know I'm working toward some new running shoes (and I really need them)!  It's starting today!

I'm looking forward to this journey and I really hope that anyone that might actually read this place can help encourage, and give me the motivation I'll need to keep going!  It'll be a long journey but I'm excited for the end destination (and I don't just mean the cruise at the end, although that definitely helps!)

In case you want to join me I've joined MyFitnessPal with the username kshiell.  If you'd like to join me in my journey other than just here on my blog feel free to pop over there and friend me or whatever you do over there.  I'd be happy to help you too if you're on a journey to a healthy you!

Inches - Time to check in....

August 03, 2011 1 Comments
It's been awhile since I've talked much about my weight loss on here (my original motivation for this blog). I think it's been since this last post when I measured myself.

Yesterday I decided it was time to measure up again.  See what the verdict is and if I've been able to continue with the inch loss.  Turns out YUP I can! :)  I seem to have hit a plateau with my weight.  At least right now when I don't have much time to get out to the gym.  I believe strongly that once I get that opportunity I'll be able to jump start the weight loss.  But right now I'm currently down about 20lbs from what I was after I had E.

I took my usual measurements yesterday, bust, waist, belly, hips, both thighs and both arms.

I'm not sure if that easy to read but the grand total is 22 inches lost.  I'm happy about that!

This all started on January 14th 2011and the last measurements were taken yesterday...please keep in mind when reading this that I have done nothing different in my life besides drinking A TON of water and just eating good proportions.  I am still breastfeeding my son and plan to as long as I can therefore traditional "diets" will not work for me.

Well that's it for now, I just wanted you to see the changes I've been seeing and sometimes the only way to do that is to show the numbers!

Good luck in your weight loss journey if you're on one or anything else in your life that has it's ups and downs, I'll tell you some days this is tough! :)

Weight Update

February 17, 2011 3 Comments
It's been a little while since I last updated on my weight. I figure today is better than never!

A quick update - Before I got pregnant, a year ago now, I was the biggest I have ever been. I weighed in at 223lbs. I was really working at trying to loose some weight but found out that I was pregnant just a couple of months into it. So I couldn't actively try to loose any. I tried to stay as healthy as I could while pregnant and luckily I didn't gain too much. In total I gain about 14lbs. Everyone including my midwives were happy with that.

So after I had E, I was on a mission to loose my baby fat and get back to a healthy and happy weight. I started to look into my options, nutrisystem, weight watchers, etc. The problem with that is I'm nursing E and I plan on nursing him for as long as I can. Therefore none of these options work for me. So I started to look into options that nursing moms can use and found that just healthy eating habits, lots of water, and moderate exercise were really my only options.

That's easy enough! I can handle that and so far I have. I'm down to about 214lbs! I'm happy with that progress but you know what I appreciate even more than the wight I've lost. It's the inches. So far I've lost a total of 12 inches! Between, my arms, waist, belly, thighs I've shed a total of 12 inches. I couldn't be happier.

I will try to post each week from now on, probably on Mondays (why not get involved in McFatty Mondays) about my weight and once I start to figure out my exercise routine I'll post that on here as well but right now my exercise includes chasing a 2.75 year old around the house, while taking care of a very fussy 3 month old! It's a LOT of work, trust me!

My plans - post baby

July 14, 2010 1 Comments
I haven't forgot about my goals to become a skinny yummy mommy.  I started this blog a while back to track my progress in weight loss and the goals I wanted to set for myself in terms of getting healthy and happy with my life and body.  It still is even though it took a little turn when I found out I was pregnant in February (yeah it's been that long already!!!)

I just wanted to give everyone that reads my blog and myself a quick reminder of what I want to do!

  • Loose 60lbs
  • Run - I don't need to run a maraton or anything like that although maybe in the way future I could do something like that.  I just want to be able to run, go for a 30 minute run and not be totally stupid exhausted by the time I get back.
  • Feel good about my body
  • Eat healthy
I still have my gym membership but I've been really bad and haven't gone in a long time.  I was still going  when I got over the inital morning sickness but then it just sort of stopped.  I am too tired and just don't seem to have the drive to go to the gym during my lunch break.  That will change.  I pay for the membership why the heck not use it.  It's a great facility and has some wonderful resources.  I'm really not sure I'll get back to the gym before the baby is born but when baby boy is born it'll be November so cold, snowy and wintering.  So I probably won't be doing a whole lot of walking outside so I'll have to figure something out so that I can still get to the gym.

I'll figure it out!  I really want to do it!

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and 227 lbs - up about 4 lbs from when I first started this blog!
