You can find the original post here but this is the just of it. I followed a trend happening in 2009 that told me to do 101 things in 1001 days. Doesn't sound to bad right? I think the hardest part was to create the darn list. LOL

Heres the list (with things crossed off that I've already complete)

Starting today - Thursday, December 3rd 2009
Ending date - Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Try to find time for at least 1 page of Hannah's first year scrapbook, I'm only on month 4 :( (Seriously, I'm not sure I'll find time)
Find a photography mentor
~~Buy a new car (I hope this is one of the first I can check off)~~

~~Send a homemade card to someone just because~~
Make my own family Christmas cards
and actually send them out at Christmas (rather than just sitting on the computer or in a pile next to my computer)

Take Hannah to her first dentist appointment (I called to make the appointment and they told me that she doesn't need to have a check up until she's 3. I guess that means this will be one of the last on my list to be checked off!)
Make business cards
Decide on an official business name

~~Have a girls night out with my girlfriends~~

Loose at least 15 lbs but 25 or so would be lovely
Go on another cruise (This probably won't be happening now that I'm pregnant - I was really hoping to take a cruise in September but I guess cruising companies won't allow anyone on the ship after they've reached 24 weeks. How much does that suck!!!)

So since I last updated I was able to complete 9 things from my list. After reading through the list of things some of them definitely don't make sense anymore. I do not plan on starting a photography company anymore. It's still a dream of mine but I think there are just too many things to work around and it's not right for me, at least at this time. I am going to leave the things on my list because I think it'll be fun to see how many of the original I can complete but just fair warning. I KNOW I WILL NOT COMPLETE THEM ALL!

Diane Lai Skin Care Review

My niece has borderline eczema on her hands so I was very excited when I received a package from Diane Lai that contained Smooth - Spot treatment, Rejuvenate - daily moisturizer and Fresh - body wash (as well as a small sample of the spot treatment). I decided right away I would get my niece to use the spot treatment twice a day for a week and let me know the results.

She gave me that review a couple of days ago and said "Look Auntie, I love it". He hands were SO much better. They weren't cracked, blister-y or bright red. They were still a little rough in spots but she was so excited about how quickly it cleared it up. She had tried everything and I know her Mom was getting tired of buying expensive creams/lotions that didn't do the job. She also told me she loved how smooth it made her hands and she "could feel the softness all day" <- her words :)

I of course had to give it a try as well but I used the daily moisturizer and the Fresh body wash. I love that I'm using "clean" products on my body and have no fear of my children or I being exposed to ugly hurtful chemicals. It also smells great without being over powering and hurtful to my nose.

A day in the life....

I thought it might be fun to post a quick overview of what my day looks like now that I'm back to work. Being from Canada I had a year maternity leave so it's a BIG adjustment when I have to head back to work.

I started back a couple of weeks ago (hence the lack of blog posts) and have slowly been adjusting and getting back in the routine of things.

The night before work:

- Prepare dinner for tomorrow morning. I've been trying to use the crock pot as much as possible to make the coming home routine a bit easier.

- Add water and coffee to the coffee maker, auto run the coffee maker for the morning

- Make lunches for Chris and I

- Watch TV, knit, RELAX

- Go to bed around 11-11:30pm

Morning

5:30am Everett is awake and in my bed. Hubby gets up each morning and brings him in when he starts whining. It gives me a bit more time and it's much more pleasent to just nurse him in bed.

6:00am First alarm, hit snooze

6:15am Get up, go pee, bush my teeth etc.

6:30am Have a shower if I need it.

6:45am Start the process that is my hair (hopefully my kiddos are still sleeping)

7:15am Hair is done and kids are most likely up. Hubby is snuggling in bed with them watching Treehouse. How come he never needs to get up so early! Hopefully my makeup is done at this point as well

7:30am Get dressed and head downstairs with kids in tow

7:31am If I forgot to set the coffee to come on, then make coffee THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PROCESS

7:45am Sit down with the kids, talk, snuggle, etc

8:00am I'm drinking coffee! YUMMY!

8:15am My mom comes around this time. She's our sitter :)

8:17am Get mom coffee, sit down for a couple of minutes

8:30am Get the kids breakfast

8:35am Head out the door.

8:45am I'm at work!

So that's it! Sounds pretty easy right....but don't' forget in between each of these, I'm running after my son who is diaper less and peed on the floor. He is now playing in it and it's everywhere. My daughter is screaming at me because she wants the TV, Wii, xbox, some sort of electronic device on and it's not working. My dogs are freaking out because they have to pee and if I don't get to the door right now they might actually squat and pee on the floor - it's that URGENT! The doors locked when my mom shows up so the dogs are barking like crazy dogs, the boy is screaming because the dogs are barking and it scared him. The girls are screaming because it scared them and they are excited that Nana is here and I NEED TO DRINK COFFEE!!!

4:45pm I'm home, the dogs are barking, Everett is whining because he wants to nurse, Hannah wants to show me something, my mom is telling me how the day was, I need coffee, Keira is talking to her mom and upset that Nana is leaving, the phones ringing, the dogs need out.....

5:00pm Sit down and nurse Everett

5:15pm Maybe Ev has let go of me, maybe not

5:30pm If dinner wasn't put in the crock pot I start dinner. If there was dinner in the slow cooker. I start preparing the sides.

6:15pm My sister gets home from work....repeat 4:45pm all over again

6:20pm Sit down and eat dinner...sounds relaxing right??? The dogs need out again...seriously how do they possibly pee/poop so much. The dogs need their dinner, Everett is VERY tired and is whining, the kids are fighting about the utensils they are using, the milk spills, stay on the carpet dogs! Hannah and Keira are each trying to tell us what's going on in their lives but they won't wait their turn so they are trying to talk over each other. The door bell rings, the dogs bark, Everett screams, the girls cry - oh wait other way around..The dogs are at the door and won't let us answer it, we get it open a crack and it's someone wanting to sell us windows for our brand new home...the dog got out...run around the neighbored, we've got the dog! Oh wait the other dog needs out....here we go again....

7:20pm bath time for the kids and for mommy!

8:00pm everyone is in bed

and it starts all over again the next day!

It's crazy! Maybe one day I'll get my husband to run around behind me with a camcorder. No, wait! Then you'll see me at my worst, that's a VERY VERY VERY bad idea.

Sorry I haven't been around much! I'm just busy! Life has gotten the best of me.

I've been knitting all my Christmas projects, doing TONS of photo shoots again (LOVE), trying to get things straightened out with going back to work (2 weeks....), installing new flooring in the main area of my house, staying with my mom while that got done, helping my sister adjust to her full time job, and start my new blogging adventure: TangledKnits (currently empty)!

TangledKnits is going to be my strictly knitting site. This will be where I talk about all the projects I'm working on (did I mention that's 5 projects at the same time currently?), projects I've completed, I'm hoping to start a podcast, review knitting related things, etc. I'm excited about this and of course things to come on GetHealthyMomma - so bare with me. I'm working on some fun things for both! :)

Why I use the Diva Cup

I started looking for alternatives to pads and tampons many years ago when I was so fed up with the painful itchiness, rashes, and inflammation I had each time I had my period and had to use pads/tampons.

I knew there had to be something different but I couldn't find it. When I did find the Diva cup, no one knew much about it and I was intimidated by it. I felt I might be "weird" if I used it, no one I knew used one so I didn't have anyone to talk to about it, so ultimately I left it on the shelf. Right after I had Ev, I just couldn't HANDLE the uncomfortable week once a month any longer, I had to find something different. I went to a local store and found what I was looking for. I picked it up off the shelf and was immediately approached by the lady that worked there. She told me if I had any questions to ask. Okay, that's a good start....."Do you know much about this product?" I asked her. "Oh yes!" That's all I had to say to get the conversation started. That's all I had to say to get the passion radiating from the sales lady about how she LOVED the Diva cup!

I was sold! I bought it right then and there and HAVEN'T turned back!

My Initial reaction - 3 months ago (3 cycles)

The first cycle was the hardest, if that's even the right word because it wasn't really hard. I was just unsure of exact placement when inserting the Diva cup and did have a few leaks. I made sure to have a panty liner on for this exact reason. Once I figured out the proper way to insert the cup it was good from then on.

I was a bit concerned at first because I have had two children and was worried that because I did have some tearing delivering both of them the cup would fall out. Because of this I opted for Size 2 (sizing here). During my first cycle, I could feel the cup and sometimes felt like the cup was going to fall out (it never did). I did some looking around online and found that others had complained of the same thing and they trimmed the tip of the cup down a bit. I decided I would trim the tip too and found that this really help with that protruding feeling. I no longer feel the cup at all!

What I love about the Diva Cup

I LOVE that they are a Canadian company (actually they are a local company to me which is even more exciting)!

I LOVE that I am no longer dealing with the pain, itchiness, rash, inflamed soreness I had each time I was menstruating before using the Diva Cup.

I LOVE that I am helping to save the planet and being conscious of our environment! I am no longer helping throw away the 12 billion sanitary pads and 7 billion tampons into our North American landfills.

I LOVE that I am no longer putting dangerous additives near or inside my body. Did you know, most pads and tampons contain dioxin, a known carcinogen. It's a by-product of the bleaching process and obviously nothing we should have INSIDE our bodies!

And although menstrual cups have never been associated with TSS, I can't make any claims to this nature. I personally feel I am protecting myself against the risk of it*. So who's ready for back to school? Hard to believe there's only a few more weeks before all our kiddos head back to the books.

H has started preschool already this year (they didn't have a spot except for one starting in July so we swooped in and took that up). Inches - Time to check in....

It's been awhile since I've talked much about my weight loss on here (my original motivation for this blog). I think it's been since this last post when I measured myself.

Yesterday I decided it was time to measure up again. See what the verdict is and if I've been able to continue with the inch loss. Turns out YUP I can! :) I seem to have hit a plateau with my weight. At least right now when I don't have much time to get out to the gym. I believe strongly that once I get that opportunity I'll be able to jump start the weight loss. But right now I'm currently down about 20lbs from what I was after I had E.

I took my usual measurements yesterday, bust, waist, belly, hips, both thighs and both arms.

I'm not sure if that easy to read but the grand total is 22 inches lost. I'm happy about that!

Baby Bond Review and Giveaway

I'm a nursing momma, I breastfeed my daughter until she self weaned at 18 months old and now my son at 9 months is a booby monster! I've always been a firm believer that breastfeeding is the best for baby (but that's not the point of this post and I don't want to start any sort of hot topic).

I was unsure of doing this review of the Baby Bond because I've never been much of a cover up momma! I have always felt comfortable nursing in public (and have never been giving any criticism for doing so). I find it to be a hassle trying to cover myself, and baby and more often then not I find myself exposed more then if I just lifted my shirt.

I appreciate the story of how the nursing cover came about and you can read the story under the about tab on the Baby Bond website. It started out as an idea during a 2am feeding of a Mother that was uncomfortable nursing in public but still wanted to maintain that intimacy between baby and mom while nursing. The reason I did decide to do this review was with summer coming there would be cute summer dresses, shirts, etc. Sometimes these article of clothes, makes it difficult to nurse without really exposing yourself. I would have pull the dress all the way up and place my baby underneath ultimately covering him up. Or I would have to pull the dress down which means the breast is totally exposed over the top of my dress. In this case, I needed a cover. I don't like traditional nursing covers because they cover everything, it's hot, and in my opinion not necessary. So when I read about the Baby Bond, it seemed like it was a great fit. Exactly what I was looking for on these occasions when I wore a dress or shirt that could not be lifted to nurse my boy.

BabyBond™ nursing accessories cover mom, not her baby. Mom is able to maintain her modesty. Baby remains uncovered benefiting from the infinite opportunity to make eye contact, interact, and communicate. After all, dining is social.

I was sent the Baby Bond Couture to try. I was interested in this particular cover because of it's duel purpose. It works as a cover but also if you'd prefer you can cover your tummy and back (ie. belly band) from being exposed while you are nursing your child. I also really like that it rolls into a self-storing pouch (only the couture does this).

I received the package in the mail and quickly became unsure about the product. I liked the idea of it still, but I wasn't sure about the message it conveyed. It took me a bit to finally use the product because of this...

I didn't like the idea that Baby Bond focused on the "modesty" aspect of breastfeeding. I don't feel a women needs to be totally covered to maintain her modesty while nursing her child.

I didn't like the slogan "For nursing and conversing. Feed your baby. Nourish your relationship." because again I don't feel a mother nursing a child should be excluded from conversations with others, be sent to another room, etc. They should be made to feel comfortable nourishing her child the way her body was meant to.

These two things turned me off of the product pretty quickly. As I mentioned, it was difficult for me to use the cover at first because of these two simple things.

But, I really wanted to find something that worked for me and what we needed during the times it just wasn't easy for me to breastfeed without exposing myself. So I gave it a try. And guess what! I really like it. It was easy to use and didn't cover my baby like most traditional nursing covers or blanket. The best part, E didn't complain while using it.

So I decided I'd create a short video of me actually nursing E while at the computer. I think this was a great way to show exactly how easy it is to use. The section right in the middle of the video shows exactly what it's like to use it with a wiggle worm. I didn't realize he had snagged a piece of his sisters apple. And I had to struggle with him to get it out of his mouth but we did all while staying mostly covered.

My final thoughts on the nursing cover, I like it! I think it's definitely worth the $35. They have some great colours to choose from including Chocolate, Night and Charcoal. The Original and the Flex have different sizes so be sure to check the sizing chart before ordering. The couture is one sized.

I am still a fan of staying uncovered while nursing but if I am wearing something that makes it harder I always toss the Baby Bond in my diaper bag before I leave the house. I got over the slogan because I understand there are many women that don't feel as comfortable as I do while nursing in public. And I know some women have been made to feel that they have to cover or leave the room while nursing. It's a shame this happens but I know it does.

All in all I think it's a great option for moms and I'm happy I was able to give it a try!

When my daughter was born we used the local diaper service in our area to drop off/pick up all our cloth diapers. This meant I never had to wash diapers and only had to wash the covers and these were just washed with our regular laundry detergent and with my daughters regular clothes.

#GetOutdoors Challenge #3

This weeks challenge over at A Busy Mommy was to just get outside. Unfortunately Jen has had some sponsorship issues so she didn't have much of a challenge this week and I therefore don't have many pictures. We spend so much time outside each and every week so I sometimes forget to get photos. Lucky for me, I'm camera happy and LOVE to take photos/videos of my kiddos so I do have a few!

The kids and I went to the trailer on Thursday (Daddy showed up Friday night) and of course we spend A TON of time outside there. That's why we love it there, we went swimming at the beach (I can't believe I forgot to get photos of the first time E went "swimming", and H swimming to the dock and jumping)! Oh well next time for sure! We went fishing, bbqing, baseball playing, bon-firing, lounging, etc. We did it all and had a great time doing it!

We've spent a lot of time outside this week because it's been GORGEOUS! It's so nice that this warm weather is finally here.

This weeks challenge over at Jen's blog (A Busy Mommy) was to simply "Get Outdoors".

I'm pretty sure we've met this challenge

We've been for a walk, we've been to the park, we've been in the garden, we've "geo cached" and we've spent MANY hours in the backyard.

How to "pop up" fold cloth wipes

Just a quick tutorial on how I keep track of all my cloth wipes. We have just recently made the switch over to 100% cloth wipes so the left over disposable wipe containers are great for this.

If you have any suggestions for a solution that you like to keep your wipes moist, please let me know by either leaving a comment or sending me an email. I am especially looking for something to keep my "extra" wipes on the go moist, for quick face washes, ouchie clean ups, etc.

A few of E's favorite reciepes

As I mentioned in a post below I love making baby food for my kiddos! I made all the food Hannah ate and have just stated to make all of Everett's food! I find it relaxing, rewarding and so much more comforting knowing exactly whats going in my babes mouth!

I told a few of you that I would be posting a few of our favorite recipes and well now I've got a couple minutes while both kids are in bed, hubby's in the shower and I'm sitting on the couch watching the only channel we have while at the trailer! Life is grand!!

Last week I made a few of Hannah's favorites from when she was just starting solids and so far both my kiddos have very similar tastes! They both did not enjoy avocado, but love sweet potato. They are both BIG fans of fruits especially bananas and apples! It's interesting seeing the things they like and dislike!

First I started to make a favorite of everyones in our household - strawberries, pears, apples, and blueberries! Delicious!!

I start with three apples peeled, two pears peeled. It doesn't really matter what kind but I prefer gala apples and just your regular old pears (I forget the name), about 1/4 cup of blueberries and the same in sliced strawberries! Chop the apples and pears in big chucks and toss them in a big heavy bottomed pot!

Cook and low medium heat until the apples and pears are tender! It'll smell AMAZING!!

In the meantime I usually start on the next food! This particular night the next one the list was.... Sweet potato, carrots and broccoli

For this recipe I chop one sweet potato (about 2 cups), 1 large carrot and about 1 cup of broccoli in big pieces.

Steam the carrots and sweet potato for about 10 minutes then toss in the broccoli and cook for another 5 or so minutes! Blend and done!

A few more of our favourites are Apple and pear with raisins and cinnamon

2 pears

a box or 2 or raisins

a pinch of cinnamon

Cook until apples and pears are tender and bend.

This is one of Ev's favourites right now!

I LOVE First Meals Fast, healthy and fun foods for infants and toddlers by Annabel Karmel. She has some great recipes for young and old. Be sure to check it out. We have the Canadian edition (which I didn't see on the website) and it definitely used A LOT!

This is where a lot of the recipes we use started from but we have modified them to make them our own. That's the great thing about making your own baby food, you really can do anything you want.

I was and am very humbled by the lovely comments on my kiddos and of course the people that said I am such an amazing mother - I am so gracious! I try to do what I can for my kids and even though some people find it "weird" I keep on doing what I do! I really really appreciate your comments!

I {heart} homemade baby food!

So my little guy is at that age! He's ready to eat, and he loves to eat!

Actually he's a bit early (please don't send me hate mail), I feel it was totally 100% okay and preferable for him to start eating a little earlier then the "recommended" age but he's my kiddo and I have that know how - call it mothers intuition! :)

I've started to make him his pureed baby food and I don't know if I talked about this before on here but let me tell you! I LOVE MAKING BABY FOOD!!!

I find it totally relaxing, a stress reliever, and totally amazing when you're babe just gobbles it all up! I guess it's sort of like the feeling you get when you breastfeed, you feel like you're the sole provider - you're able to produce the milk for them, you know what's in it, you know it's healthy for them. Same thing with making your own baby food. You know everything you are putting in it and it's from your own hands!

Yesterday I was making Ev some sweet potato, pears, bananas, and carrots while he sat in his high chair watching me (H was napping), we were singing songs about the food, talking about the colours, about the veggies growing in our garden, etc. We had a great time chopping, cutting, cooking, and blending. He enjoyed it just as much as I did!

Our process is pretty simple

1) Get the veggies/fruit from the grocery store (soon it'll be are garden! YIPPEE)
2) Clean all fruits and veggies (This is very important!!!)
3) Cut the fruit or veggie in small pieces
4) Either bake or steam the veggie depends on the veggie and what we are doing with it
5) Blend with a hand blender

Right now our "recipes" are pretty simple. We are using just 1 veggie or fruit and getting use to that before we start mixing the flavours up. So far E had been a huge fan of the fruits. We give him something once a day usually around dinner time and we stick with the same thing for a least 2 days to ensure there is no allergy or reaction to it. So far so good!

This has worked great for us with both H, when she was a wee one and now E. I'm happy I'm able to give my kiddos the best they can get and this is how I do it.

I also wanted to talk a little about pesticides on the fruits and veggies that we eat. Luckily for us, living in Canada we do have pretty good regulations when it comes to pesticides. Testing is done by Health Canada under the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA) to ensure that all pesticides are registered before being used in our Country. Before the pesticide can be registered, Healthy Canada reviews the scientific information to make sure that it has value and there are no environmental concerns related to it's use. To ensure there are no health concerns toxicology studies and epidemiology studies are reviewed. Every 15 years the pesticides are reviewed to ensure accuracy!

All imported food is tested to ensure the residue levels are below the Maximum Residue Limit or the MRL. This MRL is set to ensure the level of pesticide use would not be harmful for anyone including, infants, children, pregnant and nursing women but this does not mean it is safe.

What are a few ways to reduce the amount of pesticides you and your family consume

Buy organic when possible - make sure you are buying CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Use veggie and fruit washes - you can find one here
Peel "high level" fruits and veggies
Grow your own - check out my garden here

I will say that we do not always buy organic, it just isn't feasible, first of all it's more expensive and secondly, it isn't alway available at our local grocery store. I do buy organic most of the time when it comes to the dirty dozen though.

Never heard of the dirty dozen? I'll give you what you need to know briefly then you're welcome to look at the links and do some more research on your own. The Environmental Working Group has created this list of the Dirty Dozen. It contains 5 veggies and 7 fruits that are considered the most contaminated when it comes to pesticide use starting with celery as the worst, followed by peaches, strawberries, and apples respectively to name a few. I typically buy all of these listed on the worst list, organic. On the other hand they do have a Clean 15 list which contain the lowest pesticides use again there are 7 veggies and 8 fruits listed starting with onions, avocado, sweet corn and pineapple to name a few. Check it out! It's worth a look. You can print of a guide or even download an iPhone app to have with each trip to the grocery store.

How do you keep your yarn wrangling organised? It seems like an easy to answer question at first, but in fact organisation exists on many levels. Maybe you are truly not organised at all, in which case I am personally daring you to try and photograph your stash in whatever locations you can find the individual skeins. However, if you are organised, blog about an aspect of that organisation process, whether that be a particularly neat and tidy knitting bag, a decorative display of your crochet hooks, your organised stash or your project and stash pages on Ravelry.

Tips: Many people use their blogs partly as an organisational tool – logging and cataloguing projects and newly attained skills, projects and modifications. Did you bare this in mind when you began blogging?

I don't have much of a "stash" really, I've got leftovers. I tend to buy yarn only on a need be basis but I do have some. All of which are in my living room in a little canvas and wood storage bin. I got the bin for 2 dollars or something and thought it would be a great thing to keep yarn in. So far it's proved right

I keep my knitting needles, and some pattern books in a needle binder that I got as a Christmas gift from my mom. What a great Christmas gift! Thanks mom! :)

All my knitting needles sorted according to size (smallest to biggest) plus a few buttons that have yet to make it on a sweater!

It's all kept under my coffee end table beside the couch where I do most of my knitting. Hidden but still accessible!

I then use revelry for my project organization, and a few IPhone apps for keeping track of rows, stitches and a few projects! :)

2nd Annual Knit & Crochet blog week {DAY 2}

Skill + 1UP – 2KCBWDAY2

Look back over your last year of projects and compare where you are in terms of skill and knowledge of your craft to this time last year. Have you learned any new skills or forms of knitting/crochet (can you crochet cable stitches now where you didn’t even know such things existed last year? Have you recently put a foot in the tiled world of entrelac? Had you even picked up a pair of needles or crochet hook this time last year?.

As I mentioned in my first post of this series, I have just started to officially knit this past September.

Having watched my mom knit and crochet for as long as I can remember, I was intrigued. I figured I'd give it a shot, it couldn't be that hard right? The first time I picked up knitting needles I was excited to be working on a scarf for me. I was so bored by the time I got half way through it and gave up. The second time I thought I'd give it a try I started knitting yet another scarf for my sister this time. BORED! I didn't finish it....I think it's still on the needles in my closet. So this last time in September when I picked up some needles again, I told myself I wasn't going to make a scarf - I needed something more difficult. I decided to make a sweater for my daughter.

It was a struggle to get this finished - it's just basic garter stitch and I was getting bored but I wanted to see it through to the finished product so I did. I finished the sweater for my daughter and it didn't fit! :( It was too small. My first lesson in sizing - I knit small.

My second project - I decided I'd try something a little more challenging. I decided to make a pair of socks for my daughter. I really enjoyed making these. I liked the challenge of a different technique. I enjoyed making them so much I decided to make a pair for my little guy that was still cooking in my belly

Next I decided to make a hat for my niece along with matching gloves. Again first time working on a round, or making gloves. It was a learning experience but it was fun!

I decided then that I wanted to make my sister a sweater as her Christmas present. I picked the sweater and started at it. It was a fairly easy knit but I hadn't done anything of it's size before and I underestimated how long it would take me (all the while, I gave birth to my son) it didn't quite get done in time. Oh well she understood!

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of this sweater. I really should get a few of my sister wearing it, she does wear it often.

Next I wanted a break from the big projects and decided to go back to hats, I was looking at making my little boy (E) a winter hat. I had to knit him three hats before I finally got the right size! How frustrating!!! but I did it and he wore it all winter long! Don't worry, the other hats are going to be used! I've got two baby showers coming up! :)

Then it was hubby's turn to receive something. He needed a winter hat so I knit him up a really nice hat. Again I forgot to take pictures of it, I'll have to do that too!

Next up, a sweater for E! Yup I make a lot of stuff for other people, I still don't have anything knit for myself!

And now I'm working on pants and a baby blanket. So the reason for posting all the things that I've created since September to show that I've really taken a big step into this knitting thing. I don't shy away from projects and I LOVE the thrill of doing something that I haven't created before. I have definitely gotten better since the first sweater I knit for Hannah that didn't fit. So I'm pretty happy with my progress! :)

A Tale of Two Yarns – 2KCBWDAY1
Part of any fibre enthusiast’s hobby is an appreciation of yarn. Choose two yarns that you have either used, are in your stash or which you yearn after and capture what it is you love or loathe about them.

Having just started to knit in September I haven't had much experience with yarn but I have found some that I really love. Right now I'm working with a fantastic yarn that I purchased from Yarn Indulgences to make a pair of pants for my son. I wanted something comfy and that would last for when he starts to crawl around on the floor and of course that's easy to knit with. I found this on the 30% off clearance table and thought it would work wonderfully!

It's Gems by Louet North America - 100% Merino Wool (machine washable). I purchased Fern Green & Caribou to make a striped pattern using Berroco's grinnel (#9) pattern from their DK Baby book #292

It's perfect for my little dudes pants! I've love knitting with it and love the detailed stitch and definition!

On the other hand, I haven't really found any yarn yet that I haven't enjoyed working with.

I've used a wide veriety - sock yarn from Patons, Fishermans wool from Lion Brand, Vanna's Choice from Lion Brand, Super Value & Softee Chunky from Bernat, Akapana by Mirasol and I'm working on a baby blanket right now as well using Bernat's cotton tots. I definitely have a thing for luxury, natural fibres but so far all of these yarns have done as they are suppose to and I've been happy with the end result

Since I've started knitting I've been browsing different blogs, websites and other social media type things related to knitting and any sort of fibre crafting. I happened upon Eskimimi Knits just the other day and noticed they are have a Knitting and Crochet Blog week. I was interested in what this was so I started to read about it.

Basically....

It's a week (March 28th - April 3rd) where bloggers within the fibre arts community blog together about the same topic/subject each day. It gets creativity flowing and also opens us up to new bloggers interested in the same things we are. Very cool!

Each day there is a topic and a brief explanation posted as well as a "wildcard" topic (in case the specific topic doesn't apply to you). This is your starting point, take it where you wish!

Cloth diapers plus the sun {amazing!}

I know I mentioned this before but I thought I'd show you exactly what i'm talking about!

I LOVE hanging diapers on the line, it makes me feel all domestic and stuff! Plus of course I love the fact that I'm using my dryer just a few less times a week! Oh yeah and of course stain free diapers are amazing as well!

Interested in knowing how the sun gets rid of stains? I was so I did a little research!!

Check it out!

The sun is a big fiery ball of helium and hydrogen, these atoms push together to form helium and energy! This energy makes heat and different forms of light -visible light, infrared light and UV (ultra violet). The part that we as cloth diaper mama's/daddy's care about is the ultra violet rays - these rays are so strong that they are able to break apart the molecular structure and change the way the light is reflected back - this right here ladies and gentlemen is what removes stains from your baby's diapers or from your sweat stained white t-shirt you wear to the gym! This photochemical change can also remove odors and bacteria if left in the sun long enough!

I promise give it a try and report back! I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised! Wash your diapers as usual and then hang them on the line -warm weather or cold it'll do the diapers good! If it is cold outside you will need to leave them out a bit longer but you will definitely see a difference.

I know really I am posting a picture of a poo stain deal with it! LOL (maybe I should have a disclaimer at the beginning)?

I left the diapers in the line for about four hours - it was a beautiful day the sun was bright and warm! But it was minus 20 degrees CELIUS!!! -20!! It's freezing but check it out! ZERO stains! After the four hours I brought the diapers in and tossed them in the dryer (they are frozen solid at this point) soften them, warm them up, and dry any that may still be a little wet and ta-da! Diapers like new! Now go---

This all started on January 14th 2011and the last measurements were taken yesterday...please keep in mind when reading this that I have done nothing different in my life besides drinking A TON of water and just eating good proportions. I am still breastfeeding my son and plan to as long as I can therefore traditional "diets" will not work for me.

Well that's it for now, I just wanted you to see the changes I've been seeing and sometimes the only way to do that is to show the numbers!

Good luck in your weight loss journey if you're on one or anything else in your life that has it's ups and downs, I'll tell you some days this is tough! :)
